Hello Disc Golfers!
This is it! the first ever disc golf tournament at the Cedar Hill Golf Course. The Cedar Hill Open! The C.H.O.! proudly hosted by the South Island Disc Golf Society. First off, this course layout is absolutely amazing and having Saanich allow us to run a tournament at this location is a massive opportunity for disc golf in Victoria. We will have open play to the public from 3 pm until dark on Friday October 25th (the day before the tourney) so get out and see the course firsthand!
Based on golfing time constraints the morning of the 26th, we will be using a rolling start with assigned tee times for the tournament. Saanich will have a take-and-go food window open for groups to have a bite between rounds. If this isn’t for you, we highly recommend bringing your own food as the lunch break for your group will only be approx 30 mins. You will roll straight into the second round after your short break. We are going to base the groups off of the current Island Series standings, so the leaders can battle it out. We anticipate all groups being finished by 6 pm. We understand this is a little different, especially since we won’t be doing a card shuffle, but given the time constraints we’re under, we believe it is the best option to ensure everyone will get the chance to complete 2 full rounds of play on this championship level course. Plus, how exciting is it going to be having your name called on the tee box and throwing your first drive to cheers and claps of the Island disc golf community!? (hopefully not into a tree…).

With the overwhelming sign up and support for the Cedar Hill Open, and growing concern of shortening days and available time to get two tournament rounds in we’ve changed the course layout to include Blue and Red pads (see revised caddy-book below). We’ve also been fortunate enough to have a ton of amazing sponsorship and are able to offer additional prizes for each divisions CTP, as well as prizes for all divisions to compete for (CTPs, long put, and long drive noted on respective holes in caddy-book). There will also be a VERY SPECIAL C.H.O. specific prize for the winner of each division.

We’re posting this in advance of posting tee times (Posted 3-4 days prior of the event) and groups to give everyone plenty of time to review the course layout and make changes to the divisions they’re competing in accordingly. SIDGS is pleased to announce the official TD of the C.H.O as Joe Salkeld. If you’re unable to change your division or wish to sign up before the Tee times please PM Joe on Facebook.

We will have some capacity for walk-on players but depending on total numbers we recommend putting your name on the list to secure a spot (Walk-ons please arrive no later than 10am). We ask that players arrive no later than 1 hour before your posted tee time to ensure you can register, pick up a caddy book, and ask any questions you might have about OBs, etc. There will be a warm-up area with practice baskets to use while waiting for your round to start and you’ll be able to cheer on the rest of the groups on the first tee! This a massive opportunity for disc golf in Victoria and we kindly ask that everyone puts their best foot forward. It is going to be an amazing day of disc golf!!
